A joint dance out with Yorkshire Chandelier will be held at the Boat Inn in Sprotboro on Thursday 22 nd July. This is one of Chandelier’s regular performances and they have kindly invited Wath to join them for the evening. Dancing will start around 8.00 pm.
Now the World Cup is over it’s back to normal with the monthly [ Ist Wednesday] music sessions in Swinton. This will take place on Wednesday 4th August – let’s hope that too many are not away on their summer holidays. We aim for an 8.30 pm start with a little Morris Dancing followed by the music.
A surprise closure of The Elephant and Castle at Hemmingfield led to a longer session in the Market at Elsecar on Tuesday 13th July. Despite the rain some dancing was managed outside but the majority of the evening was spent inside along with visitors from Spain and the Czech Republic and a large number of athletes from the Kimberworth Running Club. A god Night.
Wath are looking to host a Ring Meeting in summer 2011. There are many arrangements to be finalized – but should everything fall into place Wath could see the concentration of over 100 morris men over a weekend. Watch this space!!!!
Saturday 26 th June saw another very successful Pretty Villages tour. This year the tour visited the Selby area dancing in Norton, Snaith and Rawcliffe with a central performance at the annual Feast held at Carlton Towers. The memory of the long and very hot procession in Carlton will last for a good while. The last dancing spot was Rawcliffe where a short but very enjoyable experience was expertly recorded by Gerald and Rosy Greaves. Not only did they forward some brilliant photographs but the event was posted on You tube. Thanks very much.
